Product Overview

Our DX51D+AZ60 galvalume steel coil — also known as Aluzinc or GL — offers a smart balance of corrosion protection, formability, and cost efficiency. With a lighter AZ60 coating weight, this product is purpose-built for applications where the full armor of AZ150 or AZ180 is unnecessary, but the superior heat resistance and barrier protection of aluminum-zinc alloy are still valued over standard galvanized steel.
This is the coil of choice for indoor appliances, dry-climate construction, interior panels, and light-gauge fabrications where budget discipline and processing ease matter as much as performance.

Why Choose AZ60?

AZ60 sits at the economical end of the galvalume spectrum without sacrificing the fundamental benefits of the alloy system. The thinner coating layer improves formability compared to heavier coatings, reduces tool wear during stamping and profiling, and lowers unit material cost. It is the logical specification for:
  • Controlled indoor environments where atmospheric corrosion is minimal
  • Pre-painted substrates where the organic coating provides the primary defense
  • Light-gauge roll-forming operations where coating cracking must be avoided
  • Projects in arid or low-pollution climates where service demands are moderate
In accelerated testing, AZ60 consistently outperforms equivalent-weight pure zinc coatings in heat resistance and long-term oxidation stability, thanks to the aluminum barrier effect.

Manufacturing Process

Production begins with prime cold-rolled annealed substrate. The strip is cleaned through alkaline and electrolytic stages, then annealed in a reducing atmosphere to develop the target mechanical properties. The clean, hot strip enters the molten Al-Zn bath at approximately 600°C, where it acquires the alloy layer. A precision gas knife wipes excess coating from the surface as the strip exits the bath, controlling mass to the AZ60 specification. Controlled cooling solidifies the coating structure, followed by a light skin pass to optimize surface finish and flatness. Optional chemical treatment and oiling complete the process before inspection, recoiling, and packaging.

Performance Advantages

Heat Reflectivity: The aluminum-rich surface reflects up to 65% of solar radiation, reducing thermal loads in roofing and appliance applications.
High-Temperature Tolerance: Galvalume substrate withstands continuous exposure up to 315°C without coating degradation — significantly higher than pure zinc coatings.
Formability: The AZ60 coating is thin and ductile, allowing tight bend radii and deep draws without cracking or flaking. Ideal for complex profiles and precision stampings.
Cut-Edge Protection: The zinc phase in the alloy sacrifices itself to protect exposed edges and scratches, extending service life even when the coating is breached.
Paintability: The smooth, chemically treated surface provides an excellent base for pre-painting, powder coating, or adhesive lamination.

FAQ

Q: What is GL?
A: Short for Galvalume. Also called Aluzinc. Steel coated with 55% Al-Zn alloy. Not pure zinc.
Q: Is AZ60 enough for outdoor roofing?
A: Only in dry, low-pollution climates. For coastal or industrial areas, use AZ150 or higher. AZ60 is best for indoor, appliances, or pre-painted substrates.
Q: Can you slit to narrow strip?
A: Yes. From 30 mm width upward.
Q: Factory visit?
A: Yes. Schedule through our sales team.
