Product Induction
This product is a general-purpose shaft component featuring medium-to-low strength, high plasticity, and excellent weldability. It is manufactured from hot-rolled Q345 round steel as raw material, processed through turning, grinding, polishing, and surface treatment. Customization is available for materials including carbon steel and stainless steel. Applications include agricultural machinery drive shafts, logistics conveyor rollers, elevator guide rods, injection molding machine tie rods, wind turbine pitch bearing inner rings, robotic seventh-axis guide rails, and wire rope drum mandrels for port cranes.

Steel Shaft Production Process
1.Cutting and Trimming:Sawing/Grinding Cutting Machine: Cut to specified length with end face taper ≤1 mm, leaving 1–2 mm finishing allowance.
2.CNC Turning:Rough Turning: Single-pass operation to rapidly remove scale and decarburized layer.
3.Semi-Finish Turning: Leave 0.3 mm allowance, adjust concentricity ≤0.05 mm, ensuring uniform allowance for subsequent grinding. Finish turning: Apply 5% emulsion cutting fluid spray. Achieve dimensions to IT9-IT10 tolerance and Ra 1.6 µm surface roughness. If center holes are required, simultaneously drill A2/5 60° center holes at both ends.
4.Heat treatment: Quenching and tempering + high-frequency hardening.
5.Surface treatment: Phosphating + soap treatment; Hard chrome plating; Shot peening.
6.Cleaning-Inspection-Packaging: Ultrasonic degreasing + hot water rinse, hot air drying at 80°C; Full-dimension laser scanning to record roundness, cylindricity, straightness; Magnetic particle/ultrasonic spot checks for surface cracks; Apply rust-preventive oil, seal with PE shrink wrap + plastic end caps, transport on wooden pallets or steel frames to prevent lifting impacts.

FAQ
Q: Should we select hot-rolled or cold-drawn stock?
A: For ≤φ50 mm and Ra≤0.8 µm, use cold-drawn bright bars directly to skip rough turning. For >φ50 mm or complex steps, use hot-rolled stock with a 1-2 mm allowance.
Q: Can Q345 plain shafts be welded to flanges?
A: No preheating required for wall thickness <25 mm and ambient temperature >0°C. Use ER50-6 welding wire with CO₂ gas, maintain interpass temperature ≤150°C, and perform stress relief at 550°C post-weld. Impact toughness still reaches 27 J.
Q: Is grinding required before hard chrome plating?
A: Precision grinding to Ra ≤ 0.2 µm is mandatory, otherwise the chrome layer will replicate tool marks. Post-plating polishing to Ra ≤ 0.1 µm is required, with no white rust appearing after 48 hours of salt spray testing.
Q: What is the maximum length achievable while maintaining straightness?
A: For a standard 6-meter bed on a centerless grinder, straightness is 0.3 mm over the entire length. To achieve 0.05 mm over 6 meters, dual-head grinding followed by medium-frequency quenching and precision straightening is required, with grinding performed in a temperature-controlled chamber.
