Product Overview

Our prime cold rolled steel sheets and coils in 1.6mm and 1.8mm gauges deliver the ideal balance of strength, formability, and surface quality for medium-gauge industrial applications. Manufactured from prime-grade hot-rolled substrate through precision cold reduction and continuous annealing, these coils meet the highest standards for dimensional accuracy, mechanical consistency, and cosmetic surface finish.
The 1.6mm and 1.8mm thickness range sits at the sweet spot between thin-gauge precision sheet and heavier structural plate. These gauges offer sufficient rigidity for load-bearing panels and structural reinforcements while retaining the excellent bendability, weldability, and paint adhesion that make cold rolled steel indispensable across manufacturing sectors.

What "Prime" Means

Prime designation guarantees first-quality material free from defects that would downgrade the product to secondary or commercial-quality status. Every coil is produced from verified prime hot-rolled substrate, processed through calibrated equipment, and inspected against stringent prime-grade acceptance criteria. You receive material with uniform thickness across the full width, consistent mechanical properties coil-to-coil, and a surface finish suitable for exposed or painted applications without additional grinding or surface preparation.

Specifications

Thickness: 1.6mm and 1.8mm primary gauges. Tolerance held to ±0.05mm or tighter per EN 10130 / JIS G3141. Full range 0.12mm–3.0mm available.
Width: 600mm–1,500mm standard. Popular widths include 1,000mm, 1,219mm, 1,250mm, and 1,500mm. Precision slitting to custom widths from 30mm upward.
Coil Inner Diameter: 508mm or 610mm per customer specification.
Coil Weight: 5–10 metric tons standard. Custom coil weights available to match your uncoiling and processing equipment.
Surface Finish: Dull (SD) — matte finish optimal for painting, powder coating, and general forming. Bright (SB) — reflective finish for decorative or exposed architectural applications.
Surface Condition: Slight oiled for standard rust prevention during storage and transit. Dry (unoiled) available for immediate welding, laser cutting, or adhesive bonding operations.
Edge: Mill edge or trimmed (slit) edge with burr control for safe handling and consistent width.
Standards: JIS G3141, EN 10130, ASTM A1008, GB/T 5213.

Mechanical Properties

Commercial-quality prime coils in the 1.6mm–1.8mm range typically exhibit yield strength below 280 MPa and tensile strength between 270 and 410 MPa. Minimum elongation of 28% ensures reliable performance in bending, flanging, and light drawing operations without risk of fracture.
For drawing-quality grades (DC03/SPCD), yield strength drops below 240 MPa while elongation improves to 34% minimum, supporting moderate stretch-forming and deeper draws. Deep-drawing grades (DC04/SPCE) push elongation to 38% with yield strength below 210 MPa, enabling complex geometries in automotive body panels and deep-drawn containers.
Hardness in the annealed and skin-passed condition measures 50–71 HRB for commercial quality, providing the softness needed for press-brake forming and stamping while maintaining enough rigidity for self-supporting structures.

Manufacturing Excellence

Production begins with prime hot-rolled pickled coils selected for clean chemistry and uniform gauge. The strip passes through a multi-stand tandem cold mill where hydraulic automatic gauge control maintains thickness within tight limits across the full strip width and along the entire coil length.
Continuous annealing follows, with the strip heated to precise recrystallization temperatures in a protective atmosphere to prevent oxidation. This restores full ductility while preserving the fine grain structure that gives cold rolled steel its superior surface quality.
The final skin pass applies a controlled light reduction — typically 0.5% to 2% — to establish surface texture, improve flatness, and eliminate the yield-point phenomenon that causes Lüders lines (stretcher strain marks) during forming. The result is a coil that feeds smoothly into your press, brake, or roll former and produces consistent parts run after run.
