Unlike commercial quality cold rolled steel (such as ST12 or SPCC) which is suitable only for simple bending, ST14 is engineered with ultra-low carbon content and special annealing to withstand severe forming operations where the drawn depth exceeds the part diameter. It offers significantly higher elongation (36–38% vs 28–32% for commercial grades) and superior resistance to necking during deformation.
